Chamba Express

ChambaExpress is a mobile marketplace where people post local jobs cleaning, repairs, deliveries, tutoring, handyman work and skilled workers nearby apply, negotiate, and get hired directly through the app. Think TaskRabbit built with an escrow-first payment model. We developed the full product from architecture to app store release, including real-time chat, secure Stripe escrow, work submission flows, dispute resolution, and mutual review systems.

Finding trustworthy local help is frustrating on both sides. Clients rely on word-of-mouth or overpay through agencies. Workers struggle to find consistent jobs and risk not getting paid. Cash transactions between strangers are unsafe for everyone. The challenge was building a two-sided marketplace that solves trust from day one where clients feel safe paying upfront and workers feel confident starting a job knowing the money is already secured. We also needed the app to support transparent rate negotiation, not just fixed pricing.

We built a cross-platform React Native app with a Stripe-powered escrow system at its core. The worker sees the funds are secured, the client knows they only pay for completed work. If there's a disagreement, a formal dispute flow lets admins review evidence and make a fair call. The app includes real-time chat tied to each job, Google Maps integration for location-based job browsing, a work submission and approval flow, mutual ratings with anti-retaliation logic, in-app wallets with Stripe Connect withdrawals, and a 7-day fraud prevention hold on earnings.
